Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Prairie Haven Hospice. Jolliffe Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. She was born to Warren R. and Ethel M. (Willis) Harding at the home of her maternal grandparents, George and Mary E. (Doll) Wills near Hebron, on September 12, 1908. She was baptized into the Christian faith and completed her early schooling in Hebron before her family moved to Alma where she continued her schooling and sang in the church choir. It was here that she met and married Clyde L. Luth on July 18, 1928. Their three sons, Vernon, Leonard, and Richard were all born in Alma during the Depression years. In 1941, after World War II began, the family moved to Wood River, and later to Scottsbluff where Vernon and Leonard became afflicted with polio. Because of this, the family moved to Lincoln so that they could receive proper medical treatment. While in Lincoln, the family increased by one with the adoption of their daughter, Lynda. The family moved back to Scottsbluff in 1948, and Lola worked with her parents at the Harding Market on East Overland while her husband went back to the Scottsbluff Police Department from which he retired in 1969 as a captain. Clyde died July 10, 1981. Lola was a mother, a homemaker, the wife of a police officer, a grandmother, and eventually a great and great-great grandmother. She gave piano lessons to many students, including her children and grandchildren for nearly twenty years. She was a member of a Contester’s Club and during her life won a 1974 Gremlin auto, a refrigerator, a baking contest, and numerous other contests. Lola loved to crochet and made over 100 afghans, doilies, slippers, hats, and numerous other embroidered, tatted, and stitched items. She specialized in red and white Nebraska Cornhusker afghans, slippers, and hats for her family and friends. Lola was an avid Cornhusker and Denver Broncos fan, and rarely missed a game. Reading, solving crossword puzzles, putting together puzzles, playing solitaire, and baking were also pastimes she loved. Lola will be remembered for her delicious cinnamon rolls, apple pies, and cabbage pockets, and love of baked beans, chocolate and ice cream. She lived for visits, cards, and calls from her family and friends, and visiting members from the First Christian Church (of which she was a member) and most recently, Jan, of Prairie Haven Hospice. Lola is survived by her daughter, Lynda Brown of Fort Morgan, Colorado; one sister Delma Fadely of Carson, California; and nine grandchildren JoAnna (Jeff) Stull of Greeley, Colorado, Dan (Kathleen) Luth of Scottsbluff, Teri Christianson of Red Wing, Minnesota, Jeff (Cindy) Luth, Jon Luth, and Wanda (Denis) Luth of Gillette, Wyoming, Curtis (Karen) Brown of Fort Collins, Colorado, Kyle (Lon) Luth of Riverton, Utah, and Reva (Ross) Carson; fourteen great grandchildren include D’Arci Redditt of Scottsbluff, Alissa (Neil) Guzman of Fort Collins, Colorado, Amber (Efrain) Gonzalez of Greeley, Colorado, Jared (Pamela) Stull of Silverdale, Washington, Veronica (Christopher) Jacobsen of Red Wing, Minnesota, Elizabeth (Kristopher) Denby of Long Meadow, Massachusetts, Anna Christianson of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Cameron Luth and Sarah Luth both of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Nathan and Sean Luth both of Gillette, Wyoming; step-great grandchildren Nichole (Jeremy) Olson of Berthoud, Colorado, and Jennifer and Katie Doup both of Scottsbluff; and three great great grandchildren.
