Former local residents dies

  Darwin F. Tomky, 70, of Laramie Wyo. died Thursday, at his home.
  Tomky was born Jan. 20, 1931 in Brush, the son of Herman and Mary (Skynear) Tomky.
  Following his graduation from Brush High School he entered the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict. After his return, he married Peggy Miller Sept. 13, 1953 in Fort Morgan and the couple started farming at Fort Morgan.
  In 1958 he was also employed by the State of Colorado Department as an investigator, a position he held for 29 years. He had retired from farming in 1998 and moved to Laramie at that time.
  While farming, he was very active in water conservation, serving as a president of the Bijou Irrigation Company for 16 years.
  He was a 45-year member of the Immanuel Evangelical Church in Fort Morgan and joined the Grace Baptist Church in Laramie. He was a member of the Gideon Society.
  Tomky enjoyed water skiing, gardening and especially hunting and fishing with his sons. He also found great enjoyment in doing thing with his grandchildren.
  He is survived by his wife, Peggy Tomky of Laramie; a daughter Gail Adamson of Laramie; two sons, Darrell Tomky, D.V.M., of Holyoke and Russell Tomky of Colorado Springs; his mother Mary Tomky of Austin; a brother, H.D. (Corky) Tomky of Weldona, a sister, BemmaLo Bollig of Austin, and eight grandchildren.
  Memorial services wil be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Grace Baptist Church in Laramie with Pastor Burl DeLong officiating.
  Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. and Wednesday from 8-9:30 a.m. at the Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home, 2133 Rainbow Avenue, Laramie.
